Welcome to my website. This is a record of my various kayak trips, plus a collection of information I hope is both useful and interesting. If you are expecting extreme adventures in exotic locations, sorry, better try Ben Brown's or Graham Charles' websites, my adventures are a little more low key (Born to be Mild is my theme tune). Adventures are an important part of life, so remember to pursue your own and live life to the fullest.

News and Upcoming Highlights

Above: The first rapid on the Cathu section of the O'Connell River near Mackay, Queensland. Very much like some of the rivers on the West Coast back home, very nice.

I've been in Moranbah for a year now and my current contract at Eagle Downs ends at the end of June. After that I'm not sure exactly what will happen but I may end up in the Galilee Basin near Alpha (really in the middle of nowhere). It has been an interesting year, I've done new things, met new people and done a little bit of kayaking when I got the chance. With the end of my current contract, I will probably be leaving Moranbah and possibly will not be back this way again. I'll miss Moranbah and the friends I've made. I've already sold my Dagger GT and hopefully Brett will enjoy using it as much as I did. Once again I'm kayakless in this dry land and I really miss being out on the water. Hopefully in the not too distant future I can find a job back in New Zealand and be able to spend more time with Lauri.

Being out here certainly makes one appreciate the kayaking opportunities back in New Zealand. There isn't much in the way of water and often what there is can be difficult to access with plenty of locked gates, barbed wire fences and "Keep Out" signs. So make sure you get behind the NZRCA so we can hold on to what we have.

I'm hoping to get the odd paddle in while on break back in New Zealand and the Brass Monkey Race Series starts soon so maybe I'll see you out on a river.

Paddle safe and have fun!
